 Corexe chosen to supply the technology for the everyclick.com search engine

The brainchild of Polly Gowers and Julia Felton, Everyclick.com is the search engine that gives to charity. With a background in online marketing, Polly and Julia saw the potential to use the growing web search market, estimated to be worth up to £4 billion annually, as a new fundraising tool. They wanted to build a search engine and fundraising tool which would achieve their aim of raising money for all of the 188,000 charities listed in the UK .The only one of its kind!

The Business Challenge

The business challenge was to find the right technology and technology partner. A partner who would share their vision, with the skills and expertise to deliver the ambitions of a unique initiative. A partner who would provide a cost-effective and scalable solution in a technology which met the long term needs of the business.

As Polly Gowers, Managing Director, said, “we wanted a purpose built search engine which would be quick, accurate and easy to use and which would be robust enough to accommodate the popularity enjoyed by ‘Google’ without compromising speed and quality of service”.

With an ambitious timescale, Everyclick explored the technology options available to them. Their aim was to match the technology attributes of ‘Google’ and take it further. Everyclick is different in that unlike other search engines it gives something back.

The Solution

With its ability to provide a robust platform for high volume web applications, Java was the technology of choice.

Corexe Limited were selected as the partner of choice because of the relevant expertise and experience of the team developed over many years working for organisations including financial, logistics, legal and the NHS. These skills coupled with the attributes of JayCore™, a leading edge Java based RAD tool developed in-house, gave Everyclick a complete business solution.

The Corexe solution met Everyclick’s specific requirements, quickly and cost-effectively well within the ambitious timescale. It enabled Everyclick to bring its vision into reality. Phase One was delivered from planning to launch in only 20 man weeks.

Phase One included the following functionality. The search engine needed to:

· Be database driven.
· Provide a single point of entry for users.
· Seamlessly accommodate multiple content providers.
· Include Email functionality and User profiling.
· Allow Everyclick to manage the content in-house and adapt the engine for different country zones (UK, Ireland, USA).
· Provide business news feeds.
